Prior to joining Medicago in July 2019, Asif Mahmood held several positions of increasing responsibility, from Director to Associate Vice President, at Pfizer, Sanofi, Genzyme, Sanofi Pasteur and Apotex in the United States and Canada from 2004 to 2019. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Director General of the Federal Ministry of Health in Islamabad, Pakistan, as well as Medical Director and Joint Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Children’s Hospital in Islamabad. He has also been involved in many international public health and immunization projects with the WHO, UNICEF, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
His experience covers many different therapeutic areas, including novel vaccines, hepatology, oncology, infectious diseases, rare diseases, biosimilars, drug delivery devices, generics and OTC drugs.
He received his Doctor of Medicine from King Edwards Medical University in Pakistan, in addition to completing a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
